NY Chinatown

Community Day at the Columbus Park Pavilion

June 29, 2003, Sunday, 9am …..

The Pavilion closed for more than 20 years….it has been left to decay and become the nesting home for hundreds of pigeons, it’s open structure has allowed it to become infested with flies and mosquitoes. In 2004, the Pavilion with the help of grants and community support, a projected $1.8 million has been raised to restore the Pavilion for public and community use. While plans are being forged for the Pavilion restoration, Friends of Columbus Park (FoCP), a collection of NY Chinatown based organizations have gotten together to focus on using the Pavilion for Community Projects NOW. We are organizing the community to come out and show the world that the Columbus Park Pavilion and the NY Chinatown citizens are united in our efforts to restore the Pavilion for Public and Community Use.  So if you care about your “PARK” and the NY Chinatown community, come out on June 29,  Sunday and wear your colors (T-Shirts) & bring your banner and represent your organization.
